Oh, lookie here! I have the first message in this forum!
Anyway, my problem is this:
I have a cruddy old socket 7 motherboard running at 200Mhz with 32 MB RAM. I buy myself a Creative 3D Blaster Banshee card to find that after about 10 seconds of gaming, the graphics become garbled. The problem is most likely not heat, and I have not overclocked the card and even tried underclocking it. I wrote to Creative support and they claim that my motherboard is the problem (although Im not too sure about that) and so now I go looking for a motherboard BIOS upgrade. I currently have an award Bios and I went to their site and couldnt find my hardware vendor from the list of codes. I wrote to the Unicore people they mention rather often and they are still to write back (its been like a month). So i went to another site about the award BIOS and it appears that I have an illegal bios installed. My bios code is:
06/21/96-i430VX-2A59Ht5BC-00
aparently, I have a 430VX motherboard and the correct code should be:
06/21/96-i430VX-2A59G******* for it to be a motherboard of this type. Can anyone suggest anything at all? I am VERY desperate here. I can send you a screenshot of what the 3D graphics look like when they become garbled if that would help.
Yours in desperation,
Divad.
