The SP97-V has 2.2V CPU support and switching voltage regulators good enough for the old K6-233 at 9.5 Ampères, meaning that a current 400 MHz processor can be fed well. Its old SiS 5598 chipset won't run a K6-2 or K6-III at more than 66 MHz (75 and 83 appear to be Cyrix-only on that chipset). 6.0x multiplier is where 2.0x used to be, and would be reachable even if the SP97-V has only two jumpers for the multiplier. So there's nothing in the hardware that keeps the SP97-V from running a K6-2 or K6-III/400; and the latest BIOS should be able to at least boot with that processor in. It might need a program like setk6 to enable full performance, that's all. Regards, Peter scotter 02-18-2000, 02:02 AM on revision 1.2 and later boards there is a 2.2volt setting VID0 EMPTY, VID1 1&2, VID2 EMPTY the newest revison of the manual shows mulitplier settings to 4.5 and FSB to 75Mhz it's also showing up to a K6-300 from AMD it also looks like you can set the bus to Async for the 75Mhz setting so you will not be overclocking you PCI and ISA cards at that setting so yes as usal peter is probably right on this one to http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif it should work if you can find one of the 66Mhz fsb Amd K6-2 350's would probably work the best in that board but any of the faster one should be O.K. all you can do is try it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif KPVince 02-18-2000, 05:08 AM What's the matter guys ? You could run a K6-II with a FSB of 83 MHz! You should set it asynchronous. I am running a K6-2 of 450 Mhz with multipler 5.5 and a Frontside Bus of 83 Mhz and its stable like a rock. If he boots, he will only display 400Mhz, but that doesn't matter. Multipler 5.5 is undocumented, but if you calculate a little bit you'll find it.(or I will post the settings on tuesday). I have had no problems.Mention that the motherboard temperature will be very hot. If K6III will work, I don't know, but there could be problems with the voltage and the cache. A K6II with 458.5 on this Board is as fast as a K6-2 300 on the new Epox Board.Info: a Savage 4 PCI will work with this combination very good, It's not the best card, but had several problems with vodoo. KPVince 02-22-2000, 04:55 AM The jumper settings for FSB 83 Mhz are FS0 2-3 FS1 1-2 FS2 1-2 FS3 2-3 (set PCI BUS to asynchronous and locked to 33Mhz) The Jumper settings for multipler 5.5 are (I'm not sure, just found an old notice) BF0 1-2 BF1 1-2 BF2 2-3 SysOpt.com
