Hi

I am building a system, when i powered it up for the first time, with only the vid card connected to the mobo, after a short time some music began to come from the case speaker!! It won't stop unless you disconnect the speaker from the mobo..
PLEASE HELP ME STOP IT http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Is it good music? Can ya dance to it? Maybe encode it on an MP3 and send it to me!

Is it music or a series of beeps? Is the system working apart from that?

Well Guy's No it isn't BOB (i wish it was) and it's the sort of must they dance to at Jewish weddings!!
It's not beep, it sounds like one of those tiny cheap casio keyboard that you had whe you were 5 lol

This has got to be the most bizarre problem I've ever heard of. Are you serious?

Unless you're actually running something that would make the music (throught the pc speaker none-the-less) I can't imagine what it could be. Maybe you could record it and then save it as a .WAV file so we can hear it.

The only thing that crosses my mind is maybe some type of silly virus. But how do you get a virus on a system you just built and powered up for the first time?

What type of MB? It must have onboard sound or something. Think you may be connecting speaker to onboard sound out and Instead of chassis Speaker connector??
I guess it is possible for MB Bios to drive chassis speaker with melody, (must be cheesy) but i have never seen/heard that. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
"Behold the power of cheese" hope it is not playing Taps.
Please provide more details of MB / system.....

The Mobo is second hand as is the cpu..

Nathan the model number is SP-V586B i believe it's made by Super Power..
I am running a K6-2 300 even though it only supports up to K6 266..

Could it be picking up a radio station? That makes more sense than some wavs embedded in the board or processor.

Not much more, but more...

ahh ha.. look at this page http://www.maximatech.com.tw/v586b.htm
notice it says " Music alarm &CPU FAN Control in Suspend ON/OFF" under Other... it is the Bios.. hehe its an alarm of some kind..... its probably a fan, temp or voltage warning. does MB have 3pin header for fans? can you set alarm limits (or disable alarms) in Bios?? If it cant be solved through a field change in Bios (related to alarms), You may have a IRQ conflict w monitoring hardware.
The harware on MB probably requires a certain IRQ for monitoring circuitry (winbond or equiv). Make sure you havent reserved any IRQs in Bios that the MB wants for this...
Hope this helps...
