Anyone use AIM (AOL Instant Messenger)?
The new beta (3.5) has voice chat, very cool.

I am not an AOL fan, but since they own ICQ anyway, what the heck?

Please post your username if you like,

well dos7, thanks for that informative post as well as the reasoning behind your opinion.

wait, there wasn't any reasoning. whatever.

I prefer AIM as well. Can't say just what it is exactly, but ICQ just annoys me.
I like the "send file" feature of AIM also.

yes pysklone, a bit shallow and a bit rushed, nonetheless, raw sentiment.
I thought the compatability wars between ms instant messenger and aol aim, were silly, yet interesting to say the least.

aim, ms instant messenger, yahoo pager and all the other ones , im sure they are highly functional programs, but icq, as an instant messenger ,has a quality the others lack, and if i have to tell you what that quality is,then you just don't get it.....

or maybe i dont', http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

i gave up AIM about a year and a half ago
gave up powwow long before that...
ICQ has all the features i ever wanted or needed and i have yet to have any security related problems with it. but i keep hearing that AIM gets better and better with each generation

I run both ICQ and AIM at the same time... And even Yahoo Messenger on occasion (only for sports scores...lol). I like ICQ better hands down, but I didn't want to let go of my AOL buddies when I escaped that camp...

Used Icq up until Aim starting working on its file transfer abilities, now I just use Aim. Icq is just kind of annoying also..

I use AOL IM as well. The thing I like the most about it is the ability to send and receive files, as well as its ability to check for upgrades. I'm currently using 3.5.1900, as it's the version it told me to download one day LOL.

I use the screen name MrJohnCJr mostly because someone already took JW310 (or it just won't let me sign up with that screen name).

The newest AIM is ALWAYS here (http://www.ded.com/nonags/chat.html) first... I dont' know why, but I've gotten the last 3 minor updated versions from them and it's no problems...

They're up to v3.5.1900.

Nonags (http://www.ded.com/nonags/) is also a great place for other freeware.
