How do you get that pesky Pound Storling sign on a US keyboard some how I have forgotten, tried searches, nearly worn the keyboard out trying diff key combos.
Help any one.

hold down ALT and using the keypad hit 0163.

Cheers OuTpaTienT, been driving me mad for days now,tried character map just could see it. maybe I'll have to get new glasses or just to much work this week.

I've got Win98SE and I don't have charmap
Anyone know where to get it?

Hellmund, I'm not sure about SE, but with regular Win98 you'll find CHARMAP.EXE in the archive file Win98_59.cab.

Of course, it's only like 17k so why don't I just email it to ya.

well if you drop the start menu, click find file, then type in charmap and search C: you will get it up, what drove me mad with my SE was it defaulted to that darn euro symbol, but now I can get Times to come up as default, seems file had not installed properly when I put SE on, strange thing was when I held the Alt key and typed 0163 got the £ symbol up even though it did'nt show in the charmap.

running find was the first thing I did after not seeing it in the c:\windows directory.
I tried finding a place to d/l it microsofts web page but no avail so if you could mail me Outpatient it would be really appreciated

It just isn't installed. Go to "Add/remove programs" in control panel. Choose the Windows Setup tab. Character Map is in the Accessories section.
Of course you'll need your Windows CD unless the cab files are on the HD.

Also gives you access to things like: ¼½¾©®¢
