How much RAM are you running there PWBS? I cranked mine between 400 - 3000 and didn't find a difference, even with my older WD 2.1G/P200mmx. darn it!

oh ya, here's a couple..

Socalgal ~ I be using 128mb SDRAM pc100 with a 6.4gb H/D and a K6-2 300 (overclocked to 333 :O}) I've seen the posts that some dont see a diff after tweaking this setting, yet some do.. I have no idea, 'cept that it works for me. I tried it at 2000 and nothing, then 3000.. I felt as though it was quicker, but thought that may be only in the mind.haha... So, upto 4000 it went and it did make a big dif.. Feels like everything is instant now. You tried 4000?

I tried 4000 and it did seem a bit peppier...

Then I ran SANDRA to try to get a guestimate in "reality". It seems my trusty old P200mmx is running on par with a P233mmx; my WD 2.1G is equal to an EIDE 4G; and the CPU/FPU (Memory Benchmark) are slightly higher there too.

From the other posts it seemed that the higher DWORD value was noticeable on systems with LOTS of RAM and I only have 80mgs of EDO SIMM, but go figure - it seems to have made about a 20% difference.

Thanks PWBS, if not for your post, I wouldn't have tried it again. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

(can you imagine how I will act when I build a 450mhz system?)
