Continued from another dead post.
Just recently flashed bios on a PC-Chips motherboard. AMIBIOS. After the flash (which was suppose to upgrade it to support Pentium III's) It now shows 2 flash dates. When the computer is first powered on it shows a release date of 2-24-99. During boot while showing a screen with my Processor speed, ide's,ram, etc. etc. it shows AMIBIOS 7-15-95. Once into windows Sandra reads it as a 7/95 bios and tells me to upgrade it.???
When flashing it said Flash successful and did post a new release date of 2/99. But I also have that other AMIBIOS 7/95 date. what to do???? http://www.pcchips.com/m729bios.html
where I got the flash from.

The second screen will always show the 95 date. That is no reflection on the current flash date. Its the same on most boards... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

the early date is when your bios chip was copyrighted and the other is when you flashed it

sandra is foolishly telling you to buy another bios chip

sandra also says silly stuff such as "upgrade your 486 for more performance)

Ok. Thanks. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif But now I need to figure out why the flash (that supposedly is to support pentium III's) doesnt' work. I put my 450 Pentium III on the board. Set it at 100 FSB and the multiplier at 4.5 and nothing. ? Sort of a bummer. I was able to take my Pentium II 233 up to 300 Mhz at 100 FSB. by playing around with the jumpers. Sucks that they posted a bios flash to support Pentium III's and it doesn't work. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Sweeper, that is scary can you get it to load windows with another chip in it.
(I am worried you made a bad flash)

Make sure you have the right BIOS for the revision of the board you have. There should be a revision number on that board somewhere near the keyboard connector.

This may happen if you put a bios for the wrong revision of the same baord. If this is the case just re-flash with the right BIOS

Well, it is a PC100 Mainboard. Pentium II M729. With an AMIBIOS chip. Original date of bios before flash was 7-18-98 S. Chip reads:
686 AMIBIOS 95 BU64755
At the bottom of the start up screen the bios numbers were:
610526-001437-00111111-071595 ALI 1621-725000-H
I went to the sight listed above in my first post. Used that flash. Looked correct.? The date after the flash changed from 7/98 to 2/99. Was it the right flash? It appeared to be correct.?
