How can I back-up my bios before flashing?
That way if the upgrade is no good for my system, I can reflash it back to the way it was.

I belive, in most sys.broard's you cannot do that. If you fry the EEPROM, you will need an EEPROM writer or a new BIOS chip.

Unless of course, you have an HP board, with 'little ben' a chip that allows the user to recover the old BIOS if the new one will not boot the PC. Basically 'little ben' is flashed, and if all is ok, then the new file is transferred to the EEPROM.

I have not heard of any other method to recover a trashed BIOS, but would be happy to be proved wrong http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Well when you flash you have the option to save your current bios to the same floppy that your new one is on,and if the flash is not sucsessful the bios will tell you,and you simply reflash with your old bios.
If you need more of an explanation ask me and I will try to help further.

one tip i will give you is that when you create the backup make 2 copies on 2 floppies just incase one of the floppies gets messed up you have the 2nd to fall back on. a little insurance never hurts.

Thanks to Oblivion, It worked. It did say that if it didn't work, that it would go back to the old settings.
