Just installed 6vba133 copermine 500e and slocket II. Have geforce agp ddr card.
Bios will only allow me to work with 66mhz ranges? Double/tripled checked slockett II and motherboard jumpers - no go! Bios sees the cpu as 415e because thats as high as I can go at 66mhz. Called soyo and tech support said they don't support coppermine cpu? Anyone using this combo please help..
Thanks

I take it you tried setting the mobo jumpers to 100fsb and it didn't work? If so, that's a bigtime bummer!Hopefully,Soyo will come out with a bios patch for that.I've browsed everywhere for a setup like yours, but to no avail. The closest was a Soyo6BA+IV.Very good mobo, but 100fsb and no 1/2 AGP....DawgTuff.

I did some more surfin',and found a mobo that's compatible with the 500e.It's the Tyan Trinity 400 S1854(Rev.3).It has the VIA 133 chipset, however, instead of 66,100,133(Soyo) jumpers,it has a spread of fsb settings to choose from. The only problem is the bios.Tyan is working on this, and should have a reliable patch soon. The mobo is about $100@pricewatch.Also,the Tyan has both a slot1 and slot 370 connection!..DawgTuff.

Hey Ron,

on your slocket II there is a jumper that adjusts the setting of the B21 pin that controls whether the motherboard detects the CPU as a 66, 100, or 133MHz FSB processor. I would check the documentation that you got from Iwill and find out how to adjust this jumper. If that doesn't work let me know.

That is one kick *** CPU by the way. You can expect to get up around 750mhz!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif not bad for a sub $300.00 processor.

Dawgstuff,

I see on the Tyan website information about the S1854 stating that FSB can only be set to 66/100/133.

Where did you see information about "spread of fsb settings to choose from" ?

Thanks

It's the "Revision 3" of the same mobo.Saw it at hothardware.com review section.

FYI, the SY-6VBA supports many bus speeds (not just 66,100,133)
In fact, the 27 they offer is more than any other board except the BF6, BE6-II, and the Chaintech 2ATA6.
The Tyan supports about 10 or so I think.

heres a note on the Trinity 400
In This review, (http://www.penstarsys.com/Reviews/mobos/S1854/s1854p4.htm) it shows that it was just a beta BIOS thing, and the new bios is sitting on thier sight right now, and so if you dont have 1.00 of the trinity 400 Bios and have this board, GO GET IT. Dont have to worry about rev numbers or anything, because its just a new BIOS...heckuva new BIOS too.

The New revision does do one thing tho, it allows the S370 on there to use FC-PGA's. Any overclocker should get a Slocket to go with that board anyways, because of the AGP/FSB autodetect.
