I have ASUS P3B-F and while I install a new Quantum 8.5 GB (UDMA33) it's only recognized as UDMA-2 (which have only 16.6 MB/s transfer rate).
The manual says that the MoBo should have 4 option for UDMA (not PIO mode): [0],[1],[2],[3],[4],[disabled]. transfer rate of each UDMA mode is [1]=6MB/s, [2]=13MB/s, [3]=24MB/s, [4]=33MB/s. It means that the UDMA-33=UDMA-4 isn't it?
But the actual option which my MoBo have is only [0],[1],[2],[disabled].
Is it my mistake or ASUS mistake ?

Mode 2 is correct... from intel's bx site http://developer.intel.com/design/chipsets/440bx/

In addition, the 440BX AGPset can interface with ATA/66 HDD in UDMA mode 2.

The manual says that the MoBo should have 4 option for UDMA (not PIO mode) [0],[1],[2],[3],[4],[disabled].

Just downloaded the manual... the [3] and [4] settings might be for future use. Asus always has but features in that are alittle advanced. My guess is that since your drive can only support mode 2 or 33 MB/s, then the MOBO only gives you the options up to [2].

Hope this makes sense,
Banti
