Scandisk will mark the sector as bad so it shouldn't bother you again. Scandisk can retry bad sectors for a very long time so give it plenty of time, don't abort assuming it's locked up if it goes 5-10 minutes with no apparent activity. Bad sectors are more often than not a sign of a disk on it's way out, so re-run scandisk every couple of weeks and keep an eye out for more bad sectors. Stevo 05-14-1999, 06:49 AM Is there any other program that will do this? scandisk crashes on some old drives of mine ANTONIO E GUERRA 05-14-1999, 08:53 AM Try the following software: pctools in any of their versions; spinrite--it fixes hard drives and partitions; disk doctor--utility from Norton's download.com contains hard drive utilities for free You may find some hard disk's utilities at your hard disk website.
