Motherboard manufacturer. who makes them?

Who makes the motherboards for Compaq computers? I've called Compaq and they don't know. Please help.

Compaq has used more than one manufacturer, but the best answer here is that Compaq makes them. Even in the cases I've seen where they used a board design from someone else, they have modified the board and/or the bios to be pretty much a Compaq forever more. If you are really looking for who builds the boards, mounts the components and so forth, that will be a tough question to answer. I probably varies from week to week and batch to batch.

http://www.sysopt.com/bios.html you will be able to find out here, you will need the BIOS string, which may be displayed upon startup. Or open the case and look at it. If you are looking for CPU jumper settings call 1800 OKCOMPAQ and if you are lucky enough to actually talk to a person ask to have the info mailed to you. That is what I did. Be creative when choosing options from the automated menu. It sucks. what do you need to know for? if it is for a replacement board, you have a heck of a time finding one...good luck though!
