I think you will either need to boot from the Windows 2000 cd and choose to restore W2K or create a boot.ini file in win98.
In win 98 my boot.ini file looks like this.
[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
C:\="Microsoft Windows"
I think if you create the boot.ini file it will fix it, I am not 100% sure though. Mine is in C:\ and is a hidden read only file. It should read like mine since W2K in on the second partition on the first HDD.
The way to create it is open notepad paste what I have into it and then save as boot.ini.
I hope this may help.
If anyone knows if this will not work please correct me.

Another correct answer and actually the better/complete answer (as there is a few other NT files that need to be on the booting partition) is in the Technical Forum.

Please do not multiple post the same topic; it's very difficult for those trying to help you troubleshoot as we can't see what's being replied from the other thread.
Choose the one most appropriate forum for your topic. Thanks!
