It's not really saying anything that you shouldn't know already. Of course modifying your hardware will void warranty and tech support help! That's the risk you take.

its the way they are trying to imply that this mod won't work thats the sneaky bit, mainly to try and put you off the idea.

Folks,

Please read that link as follows:

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPs.

Promise is trying to protect their revenue stream for a high cost (and profit margin) product that is a very (very, very) simple upgrade from a low cost base product. Happens all the time...this time Promise got caught with their pants down!

[It's like SUV's: Ford puts little gold "Eddie Bauer" name tags (and adds a few paint and interior options) on the Explorer and charges a couple of grand extra. I bet the name tags and mods don't cost them more than a grand! I know cheapskates that visit the "junque yard" and snag the name tags off of wrecks and drill a couple of holes in their plain vanilla Explorer and...]

So, modify, enjoy, don't worry. The benefit far outweighs the risk if you're careful adding that pesky resistor!!!

So - Tony - what's this added resistor and what's it proported to do for you?

Otherwise - I feel about unsupported modifications the same way I do about disk compression utilities

it wasn't designed to do that - alter at your own risk and don't come crying about the consequences!

there had to be a good reason they posted that note out there - typically it has to do with a stupid person filing a law-suit. In Germany people who file stupid law-suits have to pay for their lawyer - the opposing lawyer - all court fees, and any damages or lost wages incurred by the defendant - that really cuts down on the legal traffic....

you can educate the ignorant, but there's nothing you can do for stupid people......
