Anyone know what a Gemlight GMB-P56SPC board will take in terms of processors?
I've tried the Gemlight site but the board is old and only claims Intel and K5s.
Has anyone managed to get a K6 or K6-2 working on one?
Thanks in advance,
Symes.

Is it a socket 5 or socket 7 board?????
Don't know much about Gemlight but I imagine their website would tell you if it could take a K-6... Keep in mind back then Intel had no desire to make their chipsets compatible with AMD chips - So a basic rule of thumb is keep Intel with Intel and AMD with VIA and Cyrix in the bottom drawer....

Chipset's not important here. All K6 family processors work with any Pentium bus chipsets. Intel's chips limit you to 66 MHz bus, no other limits.
The point in "does that processor work" is mainboard design.
Do I have split voltage support at all ("P55C" mode)?
Do I have the core voltage I need (2.2V)?
Can the mainboard feed enough current (10 Ampères switching regulators)?
Do I have three-jumper multiplier setting?
If the answer to any of the above is "No", then you won't get any current K6 type processor to run. If you only have two-jumper multiplier and 2.9V, a Cyrix MII-300 at 3.5x66 is the end of the line. If you don't even have switching voltage regs, then forget it. Same for single-voltage only mainboards.

Thanks peter,
I was intending to replace it with a new board, but wondered if anyone else had used this board and what they'd managed to fit onto it - lazy I know but...
Anyway, thanks again.
