It doesn't sound like you did a new install of Windows after you changed the MB.

Also, are the are other hardware items that are new to the system at the same time?

Did you install the MB drivers that are on the CD?

I would say try to reinstall windows.
Or go into safe mode and remove all your system devices.Copy the drivers you will need off the cd for the mobo before you do it first. If neither works backup your drive and fdisk!
DO a search on this site for motherboard upgrades you will find all kinds of good advice.

Well I went and upgraded my old Pent 200 and Intel mobo with a AMD K6III-450 and Gigabyte GA-5AX, 128mb SDram @ 100. I was hoping for great things -well- let me tell ya!!! I installed a SCSI card for the HP 5p scanner, a USR 56K modem, Yamaha PCI sound card, Matrox 8mb AGP Video and a Visoneer keyboard scanner. I also added a Microsoft USB Mouse. I plugged it in and turned it on. The bios detected the Hard drive and the SCSI card. Windows came up and looked fine. The mouse jerks around and hangs like it was out to late the night before, loading the scanner software locks the computer up (need to hard boot). The scanner does not work as I can't load the software. The keyboard scanner serial port is not reconized. I tried a PS/2 mouse and it jerks around and hangs like the USB one. All of this stuff worked well on the old Intel board. Is this just a bad board or is Gigabyte selling junk. I upgraded the BIOS to F1, no avail. I tried to email Gigabyte for support several times, no reply. Any ideas out there???

Thanks for the advice. I reloaded windows and made sure the device drivers from the CD are installed. Same problem. I'm going to contact the supplier and request a replacement board. I still get no reply from the Gigabyte tech support.

Fnicholson,

I have a GA-5AX motherboard. I bought it about a year ago. I have a similar setup to yours I think. AMD K62 350 overclocked to 440mhz, Viper 550 video card, 128 meg RAM, SCSI card, HP Scanjet (SCSI), Syquest EZFlyer 230 (SCSI), SoundBlaster Live, US Robotics modem, WD 8.4 HD, PS2 IntelliMouse. I have had NO problems from the board. Could be a bad board, but they do work. I know this doesn't help solve your problem, but just thought I would let you know they do work...um most of the time anyway.

Before you replace the board, do what jad1097
recommended. Start in safe mode, go to the DEVICE MANAGER and remove everything, then reboot. Let windows re-detect all your stuff and you should be fine.

Hello h20, excuse me for buttin in, how did you set up your amd 350 to clock at 440? which voltages and clock multipliers did you use?
I have one on a FIC va503+, upped the voltage .1, running 112 fsb X 3.5 for 392 is the best I could do with win98.
had to lower it to 95 X 4 for 380 to get Redhat 6.0 to load.
How did you set yours up?

Fnicholson...sorry for using your post for another discussion....Rookie, I set the buss speed at 110 and the multiplier at 4. Didn't have to change the voltage at all. Boots and runs rock solid. It was almost too easy.
