i got an abit bh6 rev 1.0 mobo & p3 500 o/c 560
in the bios, in the softmenu where you change the fsb, multiplier, etc.. there is an option that says "SEL 100/66# Signal" and i can set it to HIGH or LOW. what does thing do? and which setting will give the best performance/speed?
That's your front side bus. 66 is low, 100 is high.

In most chips it does not matter, but it unlocked some of the older ones, like the early 350s, you send it a signal that is is on a 440LX board (66) and it changes its multiplier to either 5(333mhz) or 5.5 (366mhz). That seemed fine to intel, that way people could run new, expensive chips on the motherboards they already had. Then overclockers started taking advantage of it, and they fixed the "flaw". Now tis does nothing, set it for 100 or 66, it does not matter in the slightest on P3s.
