I've noticed that some CD-RW's do not support 'incremental (packet) transfers. Could someone explain what that is.
I've looked at a Smart and Friendly CD racer rewriter, which does not support it, but curious if it is something that is needed.

Thanks,
David

I can't answer your question but I do havea little advice... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
The Smart and Friendly drives are not too good. We have one at work and have had nothing but problems with it. It is an external SCSI and has literally fallen apart. The drive is very unpredictable and has trouble burning files that i can easily burn on my internal SCSI Plextor 8x/20x CD-R on another machine at work. S&F doesnot have a great rep. I would recommend a plextor or Ricoh or Yamaha. These are all really nice drives (Plextor being the best) and the other two are workhorses.

Ditto about S&F drives. I got suckered in by the Hype about 12X writes and took the plunge - bad idea! The thing was a POS at best. Returned it and got a 8x4x32x Plextor - very nice drive! Solid as a rock and burns a 650mb disc in under 9 minutes! Got mine for $220 total from compuplus.com
