Good thing I had another BE6 bios in hand today otherwise I'd be screwed FOR THE SECOND TIME. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

I dunno what happened, but everything worked the day before. I just booted up and it gave me a bogey message *CMOS Checksum Error*. I said to myself uh-oh not again..

The first time was with the BH6 mobo.

I replaced it so all goes. My fears over yet? Apparently not. When my bro goes and try bootin up the laptop (the last time I used it was for playing MP3s on it and died half way cause battery was low.) and it popped up another *Bad Checksum* message.

Now I said to myself I'm really screwed BIG TIME. There's no way you can replace a bios on the laptop 'cause its probably soldered on. Twice in a row all in the same day how likely? Good thing the second boot it went straight to windows.

Am I lucky or what? Maybe I should call myself Lucky Plucky from now on, eh? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

PD, that checksum error doesn't necessarily mean the bios is BAD, just that something has changed since last boot. It's telling you that current configuration doesn't match the saved settings.
I've seen that frequently caused just by changing memory, especially with Phoenix bios.

On the laptop, it may have been caused by the dead battery, but I'm guessing on that one.
