If you overclocked your Intel 233 MMX, I would like some assistance in doing mine. Were you able to run it at 100 bus speed? Did you make any other changes to your settings?

First use wintune to benchmark system to give you an idea of any improvements gained [not best benchmarking program but is quick and will give you info you need]. Next try setting up bus at 100mhz and clock multiplier to 2.5, also increase voltage to 2.9 volts. Benchmark system again to see any improvments. You could try clock multiplier of 3.0, but you might have to play around with voltage settings. I got my 233 to 300, but had to set voltage to 3.4 volts. I have since taken it back to 250 at 2.9 volts. At 300 was a little unstable. I am very happy with 250mhz as benchmarks show good improvement over 233mhz. good luck Neil dexmax 11-20-1999, 08:42 AM You can make it work w/ a 100MHz bus. Just make sure you have some 100mhz SDRAMs. But it runs very unstable at 350 if you use your current Vcore voltage. You have to increase it a bit. If you are plannig to use 75, 83, 95 bus speeds, please remember that not all peripherals can run on those speeds, especially old video cards. If you have a 2GB HDD or smaller, won't run on 75, 83 and 95. For cooling, you must first get techincal documents on how much heat your processor give off in Watts or in Btu. You can get that from intel. Once you have that, I will be happy to help you computing for how tall your Heatsink and how much cfm you need to keep you P55 233 from frying. ldgmsg 11-22-1999, 12:45 AM I have been OCing my Pent. P55c 233MMX now for about 6 months at 2.5x100 for 250. Its on a FIC 503+ ver. 1.2A MB, with 64MB of PC 100 SDRAM. No problems at all. Prior to this I was running it at 3.5x75 for a 266 OC. This worked just fine also but found out the 2.5x100 setting is faster in overall performance. By the way I have never had to change my voltage on either setting nor required additional cooling above my normal heat sink and fan. Good Luck wangel 11-22-1999, 09:05 AM Thanks for all the good replies. I am running 64 megs of EDO RAM (16x4). Is it OK to overclock with this RAM? On the SOYO 5BT motherboard, its just a matter of a jumper to move bus from 66 to 100. Is that all I need to do? As for my video card, it's a Diamond Stealth 2000 from a few years ago. 800XL 11-22-1999, 11:11 AM I guess it depends on the board, but EDO ram is not tied to the CPU bus like SDRAM is. If it is not able to run there, it is not likely to fry the simms. SDRAM has a much greater tendancy to unexpectedly frizzle than EDO it seems. You may have to drop the ram timing a bit (higher WS and cycle times) in the cmos setup at the faster bus speed, but I've not run into problems like that with the VA503+ I've got running EDO.
