Mntsnow 08-15-1999, 02:42 PM I just recently built a system for my brother using this board (M585B) and a AMD K6-2 350 chip and it is working great! Was able to "upgrade" him to this board and chip for what it would have cost him to get a EPOX board and a AGP card alone.....As for overclockablity I can't answer that as he doesnt get into that. Just running stable as stable as Win98 can be! Mntsnow ps. the lan card is 10/100 and the modem is v.90 compliant. kirby747 08-16-1999, 06:45 AM I am currently using this board in one of my systems and it is running great. I havn't found a website for the company yet, nor have I found where you can buy some of the extra hardware that came with the system. If you find out where let me know. Mntsnow 08-16-1999, 10:20 AM Kirby, You can get information on this board from either PCCHIPS or their "sister" company Amptron www.pcchips.com (http://www.pcchips.com) www.amptron.com (http://www.amptron.com) Hope this helps Mntsnow huili 08-18-1999, 09:41 AM As an oem builder, we use a lot of Alton 598, 585 & shuttle sis530 board, all of them are built-in vga and sound, by the they all use share memory for the VGA, the 585 has built-in modem and lan too, but the modem is really a soft modem(Pctel, built in with the sound chip), if you want very good & stable onnection to the internet, I am not suggest you to get the 585 board, try the other two and add a jumper modem such like aopen 56-itu. topflite51 08-18-1999, 10:45 PM I have the M585LMR board. SiSoft says it can handle up to 500 mz. I am currently running AMD 350@440mz (2.5V). With a little help,ie. a mini AC mounted to side of case blowing directly at CPU. Have gotten CPU temp down to 24c, while case is 27c, room temp is 29c. ADCM that came with board shows VCORE voltage fluctuating from 2.4 to 2.69 is this normal, or am I about to suffer a meltdown? TP51 bambam 11-18-1999, 04:59 PM Which is a better board the M598MLRT or the M585MLRT - To me it seems the M585 with the VIA MVP4 would have much better video ? Peter M 11-18-1999, 06:22 PM The VIA MVP4 video is faster in 3D than the SiS 530, yet has no DVD decoders while the SiS chip has. Also the SiS Linux drivers seem to be a lot more mature than the VIA ones. Not to be forgotten, the PCChips SiS boards have two PCI slots, while the VIA one has just one. Regards, Peter SysOpt.com
