Hi,
I have the M748MR mainboard + celeron 433 + 96 SDram.

I disable the onboard VGA and onboard Soundcard,

Replace with Matrox MGA 4mb vga card and ESS 1868 ISA soundcard.

Firstly,

i goto control panel >system >display adapter
> Matrox MGA
> (!)Standard PCI Graphic Adapter(VGA)
There is a conflict for VGA.

Secondly,

I installed ESS ISA soundcard, WIN98 on startup didn't show any 'Hardware Found' , why this happen, i had disable the OnBoard Sound..

Finally, Celeron 433+ 96 SDram +6.4Gb HD +3.2GB is already can said as an advance system, why my system sometime become slow after using this M748MR board..

Thanx alot

If what you are saying is that there are 2 entries under 'Display adapter', and one is 'stanard graphics adapter', remove that one and use the Matrox.

I'm not familiar with that sound card, but is it a legacy card by chance (uses jumpers for it's configuration)

I believe with pcchips boards you cannot disable completely the on-board video, you can set the card to be the primary adapter. Peter Missel could tell you more if he sees this post.

As to the sound, have you tried to set the jumper correctly. I have a m599lmr ( which is a socket 7 mobo) but the layout should be somewhat similar. I just looked in the manual and it says that you have to set a jumper on the board to disable it. Check your manual to see what it says....

Hi!

Yes, I've seen the post ...

The onboard VGA doesn't disable - choose in BIOS whether the primary display is to be onboard AGP or add-on PCI VGA.

In order to use an add-on sound, you need to remove all drivers for the onboard one first, and then disable it by jumper.

If that's a 748LMRT, you're going to lose the modem as well when you disable the sound (same chip). On a 748MR, the modem chip is still separate, thus no such limitation.
