Hi !
My VXPRO+ mainboard doesn't identify my internal zip drive
during the boot sequence.I've checked and tried everything
(jumpers ,cables, bios setup).I 've also updated my bios (04/30/98
update-5370430s.bin file).
Besides ,this device works fine in another computer.
Have you heard anything about this kind of problem ?
Thanks in advance
Stephane

Hi!

Which internal ZIP is it, the old IDE one or the newer ATAPI one?

And what happens? No drive found at all, or just nothing usable? Try forcing the drive's setting to "Floptical" or "ARMD-HDD".

Hello Peter
Thanks for your answer.

It's an internal ATAPI drive.During the boot sequence ,there is no drive found at all.
But what do you mean by forcing the drive setting ?Is it in the bios features ?
I haven't found anything called "floptical" or "ARMD-HDD"

Best regards ,

Stéphane

On the Standard page of BIOS Setup, you set the drive type for the four IDE drives. You need to set the drive type for the position your ZIP is on. Try AUTO first, and if that doesn't work, pick whatever is available of Floptical, ARMD-HDD or ARMD-FDD options. What is offered depends on how old that AMI-BIOS core is, and I didn't have hands on a VXpro+ for quite a while. So please see for yourself.

Hi ,
I have an AWARD bios .These options don't seem to be available.Of course ,I 've already tried the "auto" option without success..I have also inverted the connections to the IDE channels but the HDD
works properly either on the first or the second channel.
Besides ,I was told the latest test rom (sept 98) support LS120 but not zip. Bad luck !

So ,I'd better give up.

Thanks for your answers
