Is it possible that I force the Intel bios for my Intel motherboard (440lx) eventough it is a Gateway machine?
Can I do this:
Opening the machine and setting the motherboard to RECOVERY state and inserting the floppy with the Intel Bios into the drive.
Hopefully that will force the bios on the diskette onto the motherboard.
I cannot stand the Gateway logo on Startup and Intel's bios is from 1999 vs jan 1998 Gateway.

Please advise before I do it...
Cyril

I've done it, but I don't recommend it to most people. It is about the only way to get around the Intel OEM code limiting in their flash loader though. Well, short of hex editing the four .bi* files, stripping out the header info, adding in the missing 24k of code, and flashing it with a generic flash loader or burning it with a ROM burner. Generally, it is quite hard to get from one OEM bios to another on an Intel board, as I think you can see now. Recovery mode is the easiest way, but not exactly the safest. Any chance the bios chip is socketed? (Should be an Intel chip that says FLASH on it.) If it is soldered to the motherboard, it is really hard to fix things if you make a mistake.
