I've recently found that my computer no longer finds my AGP card, so I figured I'd reload my AGPbios (loaded under win98). After it loaded, it asked me to shut down and restart my computer (I did). But it would never restart again. The monitor works fine, I've taken out all my hardware and reinstalled them. I've even cleared my CMOS. The computer comes on (and the light to the monitor is on)but all I get is a blank screen. I can't get in my settings or anything. Could this be my bios and if so, how would I go about fixing this (hoping I can save the bios chip). My system specs are : Award bios, Ali chipset, Biostar M5ALA v2.0 MB, 256mb PC100 RAM, 10.8gig Maxtor HD (need any other info? sound, graphics?) Please, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. (sorry for the long post)

I don't understand the reloading my bios under win 98..did you flash the bios?..is that when the problem started?..can you get to POST? try setting the pins on the MB to clear the CMOS and try to reboot..what happens then? can you get in to the bios settings?

If U mean "reload my AGP BIOS" is flashing your bios then U're in trouble, since AWARD flash-bios program has to be run under DOS.

It was the vga bios that i loaded in (which I think wrote into my bios). It was on the drivers CD I got from the place I got my computer and was located at E:\Drivers\Win95\Vga\BIOS\Update.dat on my drivers CD so I figured it was a windows program to update it. It only wrote in to certain aspects of my bios but wrote to enough to keep me from doing anything. If anyone still maybe have any ideals on how to correct this? Is there a way to either totally clear the bios and put another one on there or to some how force a new bios in ? I'm open to try any suggestion of help ? Thanks again
(Note: Cd Rom, Floppy and HD all sound as if they are working/running but I just can't see anything)(Note: Forgot to say above, HD is UDMA)

I have the same problem. I attempted to update my BIOS on my Abit ZM6. After I discharged the CMOS, I got the same result you are getting. Unfortunately I haven't figured out what to do now either! If anyone can help, we surely need it!

I figured out and fixed the problem I was having. Ended out to be a very simple fix and I'll try to explain it the best I can for anyone else that may have this happend to.
**First off, I had an extra PCI video card laying around so I installed it in a PCI slot I had and took out the AGP card (so they wouldn't conflict)(also don't let the original drivers load for the PCI card, just let the standard PCI video controller load)...Next, I booted up to make sure that I would see anything(I had to shut my monitor off then back on to see it) then if you cleared your CMOS, be sure so enter setup and set-up (this only applies if your able to see it)...Next, I went online and got all the updated drivers for my motherboard, video card and chipset (also got the updated bios for the video card), my advice is to get the driver from the ones that made your motherboard and video card themselfs and they should come with a readme on how to install them...Finally, I reloaded all the AGP drivers back in (i.e hard disk controller, video card drivers, chipset,AGP system controller and so forth), you'll have to go into DOS to do your AGP video card bios update (read the readme or instructions to it carefully) then after you get them all back in, reboot...When your system boots back up, go into settings and make sure their are no conflicts and to see if everything looks good.... Now finally, shut down your system, take out the PCI card and re-install your AGP card. Now boot back up and load up your AGP card video drivers**
Thats all I did to get mine back up and I do not guarntee this will help anyone else but I hope it does.... Thanks to all those that was willing to try to help out.I hope I explained everythin ok
