I am trying to find a motherboard which has the following
support for the LS120
UDMA66
jumper free
a secure bios ie the cih virus cannot nuke it, my QDI board needed to be jumpered to flash the bios, but now it is done in software.
socket 370 or super socket7 or perhaps both
I am considering AMDk6-2 400 and Celeron400
ATX
USB
onboard sound? not too sure
onboard video? not too sure
I have no preference although I have used QDI and Gigabyte and Chaintech without any serious problems
What about the onboard lan/modem riser, I noticed a preview of a new system from a major computer OEM which came with a modem fitted but not in the riser slot? curious.

Hi philip ~

A solid place to start is to check the site of the CPU you are going to buy, most if not all have motherboard recommendations for their chips.

SysOpt has a good list of mobo manufacturers here [url]http://www.sysopt.com/mboard.html[url]

I like to see how the real-life applications are so I check in at http://www.sysopt.com/userreviews/products.cgi?mboards to get some user comparisons.

Some others for your consideration:

http://www.super7.net/

Hope some of this isn't redundant to you and gives you some ideas.

It's not jumper free but does support 120mb zip and ata/66.

I agree with jeffgordon. also tyan has the specs; and soyo's are good too. If you are going intel on the processor, abit.... I do not recommend onboard video, It is usually cheap and cannot generally be turned off if you want to upgrade later. On board sound usually can be disabled.
