I cannot get it to run at 100 MHz with a PII 400 cpu and 128Mb ram chip. I have set the jumpers but it just hangs. It will boot at 66 MHz as a 266MHz CPU and then crashes when win95 loads - any suggestions.

I just got rid of my Gigabyte motherboard as i was having a few problems with it although i did manage to run my dual 300a clerons at 450 on a 100mhz bus speed. I was however getting a problem which really started to bug me and that was when booting in to win95 or 98 most of the time i would get an eroor stating that the command interpretter command.com could not be found.

We fitted my friends GA6BXD with 2 x PII 400 and the m/b insisted on running them at 2 x 450 ( very stable too ) but with just one CPU in it he had to fit the terminator card in the second slot for it to work correctly.

I would suggest trying win98 and win95 was never really design to run processors that speed and you may have heard that you cant run win95 on an AMD 350 or higher with out a patch or you will get a windows protection error.

As with all fault finding start with a clean formatted drive with just your graphics card, memory and cpu. leave all your other cards out for the min and try it at that. If it is successful then start add cards one by one. Check for conflicts. Try swapping card around in different PCI slots and if possible spread them out as some slots share IRQ.

Other than that all i can say is its a process of elimination and you may need to get your hands on another PII 400 chip just to see if you get the same problem with that.

Good luck m8 i know exactly what your going through. I build pc`s for a living and the amount of hardware conflicts you can have in a system just aint funny.
