Laptop motherboard problems

I have a Unicent Laptop with a diagnosed motherboard controller problem. As you may very well know, Unicent has gone out of business, approx June 4, 1999. All attempts to reach them have failed. The machine is only 9 months old.. or so I beleive. The controller does not recognize any harddrive or boot-up floppy that is installed within the machine. Software "fixes" have been attempted by a reliable source. My question is: Are there Unicent motherboards (or other motherboards that will work) available and how do I obtain one?
