I have an old socket 7 motherboard. It is a Gigabyte TX2. I read the spec. that it has only support 60 and 66Mhz internal bus speed and up to 5.5 ratio. I'm looking to buy a second hand K6/K6-2 266 cpu. Is it going to work ? From what I have seen in Gigabyte web site only the board revision 2.13 can support it. Mine one is 2.03. What do you all think ? And some more did Intel have 266mmx cpu ?

Intel only made the until the 233mmx and then shagged us all over, before you buy the cpu why dont you go to a computer shop and ask them if they can try it for you, that is what I did, and my board excepted the cpu but windows did not.

If the motherboard has a jumper setting that supports 2.2 volts, you should be able to use the CPU on the board. If not, then I'd look to upgrade to a super 7, which supports CPU's at least up to 600mhz. I have a TX motherboard running an AMD 366mhz CPU (66mhz x 5.5 - and same voltage as a 266mhz). I've even been able to overclock it to 400mhz (66mhz x 6). You may want to see if there is a new bios for your motherboard as well.
