Hehe... There was a long, drawn out debate on this subject many years ago in Ann Landers' advice column. The majority agreed it should come over the top and hang in front. This IS true with paper towels; just look at the way the design is printed http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Am I missing the point here, but in my books, as long as "le papier du merde" conforms to two criteria, this is OK.

1. Can a sufficient amount be removed from the roll?

2. Is it less abrasive than 'wet & dry'?

OK everybody here's the story:

The toilet paper should come over the top and hang in front, period. When I was in the army we actually developed and was thinking to put up a poster called: "Correct procedure for toilet-roll changing" , but the problem disappeared before it was necessary to do that http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif.

Mind you we did have to put up a reminder for people to remember to flush the toilet before leaving the scene. Pretty gross huh?.

Here's the scenario:

The little red face I posted with this is a true representation of your facial expression given the circumstances.....

Do you CARE whether the paper is over or under??? Do you think "Oh no you don't, turtle... back you go until I find a suitably hung roll!"

In this situation, you're just so relieved to get something porcelain between your ***** and the carpet, that the presence of paper probably slipped your mind somewhere between dropping your kex and starting 'the move'

I dont know about the rest of the people, but I have never been in a washroom in which I couldn't figure out how to use the toilet paper. Since there is no real big difference in the performance of the toilet paper based on the upward/downward position of it in the despensor, I dont see why everyone gets so worked up on the way it should be http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Maybe if the orientation of the toilet paper gave it super human cleaning strength (or just more quilted *grin*), i could see the concerns here http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Okay - I never thought that I would reply to a thread like this but still in the spirit of April 1st let me just say:

I am currently devoloping a paper dispenser that grinds up and recycles old newspaper, then extrudes it as a soft sheet on demand - no more over or under stuff, and the paper comes out nice and warm.... it's a modified fax machine!

And to solve that other age-old dilema, my next invention has a foot operated button located beside the comode; it raises the seat for us guys and then the mechanism gently lowers the seat automaticly when we remove our foot from the button.

OVER THE TOP---for a good reason.
Say that Mexican food you had for dinner rubbed you the wrong way and you need ten feet of TP in a hurry. With it over the top, just give the roll an overhand smack, and ten feet hums right off. If you had it from the back, you would have to manually reel 10 feet off or give it several underhand smacks. Much more time consuming. Just my 1/50th of a dollar =)
