Hi,

My BIOS chip has been fried...it was inserted in the wrong way. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I might be able to get another one? Any help would help. Thanks. =)

contact the company that you bought it from or contact the motherboard manufacturer

Ouch, that is a tough one. BIOS chips can be found at various electronics dealers like maybe Newark, or perhaps JDR microdevices. I'll try to hook you up with some weblinks once I dig my catalogs out of the stack of stuff on my desk. Problem might be finding a vendor that will sell you less than 100 or 1000 of them. I also neglect the fact that the chip will be empty when you get it and you'll need a means of getting a good bios image into it. (PROM burner, hot swapping in a working board)

go buy a new motherboard from some local computer store. Take out the bios chip and return it say it was missing the bios chip.. they wont loose money because they will tell there dealer the same junk u told them. heh http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

No problem getting a new chip...go here:
www.rcsystems.com (http://www.rcsystems.com)

If you have the small 1/2" square bios chip, are
you aware one edge is cut-off (like a K6-2) &
must line up with similar notch in holder....

NuovoTech, that link is great for picking up a single bios chip. Most of the places I'm used to dealing with don't like it when you order 10 chips, much less one. And this place will even burn a ROM image into the chip for you which is a huge plus. Another one for my bookmarks, thanks!
