I've got a k6-2 400 oc'ed to 450. I've tried to go higher but it will not post. I checked the mobo website and found out that my current bios doesn't go higher than 450. They said I could order a new chip for $25 with the latest bios or try flashing it. Reluctantly I tried flashing and it didn't work. Mobo still works, but still have the same bios version. Could this be why I can't go higher on the overclocking? The new bios supports 500 and up. Would it be better to spend the money and get it done right or try flashing it again? I probably did something wrong since it was my first time to flash.(Huh that sounds kinky.)Any help would be great!

make sure BIOS caching is turned off, and you reset the BIOS after flashing (short jumper or load setup defaults).

Run Awdflash.exe exactly as instructed in the ReadMe file or you mobo's manual. Replace the work NEWBIOS with the name.bin of the BIOS to be flashed. Use the switches /PY and /SY as shown and add /CC at the end. This clears the BIOS of any leftover artifacts from the previous software.

I'm not sure about the other question. Cache is a place where data is stored temporarily on its way to be used.
