I got a BX6-2 that came with a temperature probe. I'm not to sure on where to put it. Most people say to put it on the heatsink closest to the chip as possible. I have a P3 (SECC2). So wouldn't it be better to stick it in between the heatsink and green circut board with the tip of the probe touching the chip?

Yes, if you can get it to touch the edge of the part of the chip that is in contact with the heatsink.

However, you would be even better off to get MotherBoard Monitor 4.07 and access the thermal diode inside the CPU.

Then you could use the probe to keep track of some other device, the video card for example.

I have MotherBoard Monitor 4.80. The winbond thermal diode will either say its 0'c
or 127'c. With the probe I get 36-40'c idle and 64-68'c when running the RC5 client. Are these temperatures normal for a P3 450 @ 527?
