Do you think Win98SE would appriciate 256Mb instead of 128Mb of RAM? Would it help run programs faster? Do I really need it?

Yeah i just thought i would put another 128megs to my already 128 meg system.

Honestly, I noticed little difference when I went from 128 to 256.
BUT - It does seem like I never hear the HD run, no matter how many things are open! Didn't do it very often with 128, though.

well I have had 256 in system with SE on for just over 24 Hours and frankly it don't seem to speed windows up, but it's great when useing Dreamweaver and you want a lot of info running during setup or page design, ( can flick through diff pages instead of going back and for through hard drive.)

I noticed a little improvement esp. with apps wen I went to 192M, but I didn't notice anything when I tried 256, so I used the spare 64M to build another computer... <G>

I can see a big difference in a couple of photo programs - Photoshop being one of them - but then again it depends on the size of the file and how many undos between saves.

Ditto on the photo editing - a 600dpi 32 bit scan of a large photo can be 150mb+! With 128mb, every edit of the pic required a lengthy trip to swap file land. Dropped another stick in there and I'm golden again.

I noticed my main improvement with my DVD player. My audio would lose sysc with the video and upgrading from 128 to 256 took care of it. I know have to reboot as often as before either. If you have the $$$ go for it.

the real diffrence will be with the swap file.... windows 95/98 will not need to use the swap file nearly as often (if at all) depending on how many programs (and how intenseive they are) are currently open and running.

The more ram you have the fewer times windows will have to write to and read from the swap file when doing tasks. So windows will actually appreciate it.
