Any suggestions for where to buy a y-adapter to connect two 4-prong fan power-source connectors to 3-prong motherboard heads? I've seen them in local stores, but always as part of fan combos, never alone. Both my case fan and cpu fan have the large, male-female 4-prong connectors and I need them to connect to the 3-prong heads on my BX-6 v. II motherboard. I've checked various web sites without any luck.

Unless you need BIOS management of the fans, why not just plug them into spare drive power connectors from the PS? It sounds like that's what their plugs are intended to do. If you don't have enough spare outlets, "Y" adaptors are common - Radio Shack, CompUSA, Fry's etc. I should think.

Roy -- thanks for the tip -- it works fine (I thought both the male and female ends needed to be connected). Still would like to know where to get the connector, tho.

I believe 2CoolTek sells em, check out part # 4MOS. 2cooltek.safeshopper.com (http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com)

I wanted to do the same thing (so my fans would
spin down during suspend), I got some extra
2/3 pin connectors from a junk PC & soldered
them to the 2 wires from fan. Check your MB
manual for fan header wiring, tho middle pin is
always the 12v lead...
