Now I hear that Intel is phasing out Slot 1 motherboards and CPUs and moving towards Socket-370 CPUs which will include cache. And the new and upcoming Pentium IIIs (550, 600, 650 MHz) will use this form factor in the future. Has anyone else heard about this? This is the first time I've seen the industry revert to a newer version of an "old" standard.

http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif What Intel is doing is trying to make life as difficult as possible for AMD. This in turn forces consumers to spend more on upgrades http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Socket 370 should last until the end of this year, maybe a little longer and then there is another socket that will be released. Slot1 is already history, so to speak.
