I just recently attempted to install a BH6 mobo which I purchased in Jan99 (big mistake not installing right away). Anyway, it initially installed fine with the traditional tweaking of CMOS. The machine ran fine for @36 hours when I noticed an odd smell seeming to come from the case. It smelled like hot circuits. Pulled the case and checked under the hood, was warm inside but nothing on fire.I let it cool for a while and tried to reboot. Now it goes through initial post by recognizing the CPU, (233 PII),seeing memory (64mb 100 SDRAM) and recognizing the HDD. At this point it stalls. Oh by the way, when it reads memory and when it stalls I get an annoying clicking noise from the internal speaker which doesn't go away unless I unplug the keyboard.

It will not allow me to reenter CMOS, the keyboard is dead the whole time. My keyboard works fine on my other machines.

I've tried many routes to get a reboot:
Pulled the backup battery to reset CMOS (no good)
Changed jumpers to clear CMOS (no good)
Pulled all peripherals except Video card(no good)
Reset SDRAM several times (no good)

What am I missing or should I just trash the board??

it sounds like you burned out a chip or some other circuitry on the board.find your local abit vendor and see if he /she will swap it for you...i took mine to the place i purchased it and they gladdly helped me out to keep my business.abits work good when they work.

gr8vfr,

Thanks for the reply. I've already made that conclusion and have sent it back to ABIT in Calif. Hope to get it back soon. The online store I purchased it from would not take it back after 14 days, won't deal with them again. ABIT was good enough to honor their own warranty.
