M598 and joystick problem

I've got the PCChips M598, Rev 7. I had my joystick working with the old ProSound drivers. I updated to the C-Media Prosound driver dated April 11, 1999, and now my joystick doesn't work. Win 98 device driver shows no conflicts, device working properly. But control panel, joystick says it's not connected. Anybody have a suggestion? If you are using a M598 and a joystick, could you check the drivers and let me know what your using? Also, check control panel, multimedia, MIDI, and tell me what your choices are there?
