I'll intro this by saying that VH is my all-time favorite group, having said that, do you think this is true or some cruel April fools joke?
This is in today's NY Post Page Six:

Van Halen: together again at last
DAVID Lee Roth is back in Van Halen. The original bandmates have buried all hatchets and are together again after 15 years. Roth, in full party mode, was hanging out at Moomba Thursday night and told partiers: "We've been holed up in Indianapolis, trying to keep a lid on this. We're getting ready for a monster tour." The band is apparently going back to basics, appearance and all. "He looked like he did in the '80s," one spy said. "His skin was like a baby's bottom and he had this platinum blonde hair down to his shoulders" -- prompting some to snicker about David "Weave" Roth. Insiders close to the band said a tour could come as soon as this summer. "It would be huge. Van Halen had to cancel their last tour because of poor ticket sales," one said. Roth left the band in the mid-'80s because of fights with Eddie Van Halen, who was jealous over all the attention Roth was getting. Roth's replacement, Sammy Hagar, lasted until 1996 when he felt the band was becoming too "pop." The latest lead singer, Extreme's Gary Cherone, left after just two years. "I'm back on the gravy train," Roth said. A rep for the band didn't return calls.

I like Sammy Hagar, not crazy 'bout Roth, but not against hime either. Basically no comment on Roth. But I think Eddie deserves as much credit as possible. He makes the undeniablwe sound of Van Halen. I mean, you know a Van Halen song in the first few bars, you know? One of the best guitar players out there. He was doin' in late 70's, early eighties what all guitar players are doin' now, y9ou know?
Long live Van Halen, Runnin' With The Devil!

Yeah I heard it on the radio on Thurs. I liked Sammy a little better, but David was cool too.

Since I play a little guitar myself, I've always had the upmost respect for Eddie...until he pulled the **** he did on Sammy. He really dogged Sammy and for no good reason.
I still consider Eddie a great guitarist but now I also consider him a psychotic, irrational, unstable, flakey, and completely two-faced individual. It was very difficult for me to come to terms with this, seeing how Eddie has always been an idol of mine. Very dissappointing to discover his true nature.
I hope they do get back together, but only for Dave's sake. I think Dave is an alright guy. He had a bit of an attitude problem back in the heyday, but the years have humbled him. I think he deserves a little more fame & fortune.
But I could never hear from Eddie again and not have a problem with that.
Of course Sammy is still "the man". A real down-to-Earth guy. How could anyone NOT like Sammy?

yeah, it was awhile ago but Dave dogged Eddie hard. I think I might've heard something since about them 'making up', but I don't really remember much but hearing about it all.
I agree about Eddie/Sammy. I like Sammy and Dave both about equally well, both for different reasons. Van/Roth is still my fave cause that's the sound I liked from the band, and I think Jamie's Cryin' is on my top ten all time fave songs list.
It's really cool to hear about, tho. I have a lot of respect for Eddie as a guitarist myself, and for Dave as a singer. Their tight sound was always something I tried to achieve with my past bands, but it's really hard to get that.

Dave can still "jump", as you can see by this photo of his DLR Band tour just last year.

It was only a matter of time before they got back together.
I can't wait top hear what the come out with.
They just were not the same with Sammy. Kind of like Pink Floyd without Waters. Both are great but not the same bands.
Nothing on their offical site either. http://www.van-halen.com/
