I plan on buying a new stick of 64 mb PC100 ram for my PC today. I know I have PC100 in there now but what about compatibility problems? I'm not sure but I believe mine is CAS 3. Can you mix the two, CAS 2 and CAS 3? Or is there anyway to determine which type I have? (The place I got the original stick from does not specify on their site and not open today)

for the most part you can mix the two different cas ratings but you will need to run them both at the slower cas rating. to eliminate the possablity of instablity caused by running the cas3 stick at cas2

Ok that makes sense. It that something you change during the setup or what? Is there a program that will tell me what type I have?

For setting up the memory you will set the cas speed in the bios. as for a program that will tell you what type of memory you have you might try DimmID (http://www.mntsnow.com/downloads/DIMM_ID.EXE) and this is the readme (http://www.mntsnow.com/downloads/DIMMREADME.DOC) file on that program. BTW it doesnt work on all motherboards/memory sticks http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
