Hi all

My car was broken into last night. The rear passenger window was smashed. My 3 week old Alpine cd player was taken. My My tools, CD's and an external Zip dip drive gone. My insurance has the window and stereo covered but the zip drive, tools and software are history.

I never leave my stuff in the car but I had a late night service call and a early appointment. Didnt see a need for moving it twice. I was wrong.

Why does this stuff have to happen. I mean you try to live a descent life honestly then you have to face this. This just isnt right. Right now I am truly angry. Probably more so than I have ever been in my life.

I am just blowing off steam. I know this isnt part of this forum but I did have computer stuff stolen.

Sorry to hear about that J. I have been lazy about taking the face off my cd player and guess I better go get it. This type of thing really stinks.

All I can say is what a bummer. If your car was parked at your house, check your home owners insurance concerning the stuff not covered by your car insurance. It's a long shot I know, but worth a try.
Good luck.

Sorry to hear it. I have also had it happen to me. Car stereos and amps riped out I even had a car stolen for the stereo system, I had the alarm disabled to do some work on the car and forgot to reset it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif .

I'm sorry to hear that jman...u can never be too careful, though now it seems that no matter where u live stuff like this happens.

All I can say is Now You'll Be A Little More Weary, and should probably take extra precautions so this won't happen again( I hope not)

I am also sorry to hear about your misfortune. It happedened to me twice. Both times put me in a rage. I remember looking at everybody like they were the ones who broke into my car. The first time, my wife claims she heard something outside but didn't think much about it. Man, that really pissed me off when I found my dash all torn up. The second time, they stole a radar detector out of my car. They broke a window to do this. I would of given them the **** detector if it would of saved the **** window. (getting kinda worked up remembering this stuff). Anyway, who ever took it will eventually get whats coming to him, her or them. I guess all I can say is, your lucky you still have a car and of course your health right? Yeah, I'd rather have the zip drive and software too. Get what you can from the insurance company and consider yourself lucky.

That sucks man. Some people just make me sick these days. My car is fully protected(so I thought) Hood lock, alarm with proximity sensor and pager, back up battery for alarm, and a separate ignition kill. Went out of town. Came back to the car one day...all 4 doors and the trunk were open, stereo gone, subwoofers gone, glove box cleaned out and alarm 100% disabled http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif All the wires that went through the firewall were cut(bye bye alarm) Wire to backup battery/siren were cut, antenna to pager was ripped down, only thing that held was the hood lock! To top it off, those jerks keyed my car from front to back on both sides. I just stood there in disbelief...they did all that and no one saw or heard anything? Sigh. There are all kinds of people out there. And yes, I hope they get what's coming to them one day. Weird how thinking about that stuff makes you really pissed off huh? Better read some other posts here!

Gosh guys i'm really sorry. I couldn't say i know how it feels but i can say that i do know that there are some real stupid people out there that don't respect other peoples property. It really irritates me to hear or see nice people get hurt or robbed. But i know when i do get my car that if any one does all that to my car then i would be angry like you guys. It's sad how some people can spead time on the streets trying to rob people when they should be at work working for what they want instead of stealing from innocent people who work hard everyday of there lives to get what they want and the next thing they know itz gone. That sucks!

All of this makes me want to wait for my car because i don't want mine messed up and broken into but i guess nowhere i go, how long i wait some moron will always be there to try and steal from me. It just shows what our society is coming to. Well at least part of it. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Take care,
~Joel(jl123)

jman, I feel your anger and frustration http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif It's happened to me also. It's especially maddening when the cops dust your car for prints, leave a further mess and you never hear from them again, and the perps are never caught.

I hope you are able to recover at least some of the cost/replacement of the stolen items and damage.

Thanks for letting me vent my anger here. I have an appointment for Saturday to have an alarm installed and a new stereo put in. Dont know If I am gonna get a nice stereo or not. I love my music but....
It will have a removable face but I dont know if I can condition myself to remove it everytime.

I have to start from scratch with all my diagnostic stuff and tools but I will get better stuff. I need to find a cheap price on an external zip 100 to replace for work. Other than I can handle the rest over time.

Again Thanks

Seems to be alot of this goign on lately. My brother wrecked his 95 civic about 4 weeks ago. Exactly one week later it was broken into (AT THE GARAGE it was being fixed at!!) and they stole all his ****. $2700 worth of stereo stuff. the garage left the car unlocked. Turned out to be an inside job (duh) and someone my brother knew as an aquaintance. So they caught the guy, but he can't get hsi stuff back until after the court case :|

I've had it happen too, 3 times to be exact.

It only happens after I have an alarm working on the car. I think that actually triggers theft.

But, I never was so lucky as to have the cop's dust for prints...they were too busy on big crimes to care.

What irks me is that a lot of these guys spend more and work harder to make dishonest money than I work to make honest money, and I think I still make more than a lot of criminals.

jman: It took me about three months to really remember my faceplate, but i think it paid off cause no one's stolen my Alpine yet. In fact my car(s) have never been broken into. I think that's cause none of them is worth more than maybe $500. I firmly beleive that the uglier a car is the more likely it is that a criminal will just walk by...And my truck is so full of junk I think it'd take a thief so long to find anything worth stealing (heck, *I* can't!) that I'd catch him before he was done! *smirk*

My truck was broken into several months ago in front of my house. It really made me mad because I was awake studying when it happened and I didn't even hear them. They stole my cd player, some cd's, and did more damage to my truck than the items they stole were worth. I also thought it was kind of funny in a way because I had a ammo can behind the seat full of dead batteries I was going to take to be recycled. The thieves took that thinking they were getting some tools. I bet they were dissappointed when they opened it up after lugging that heavy thing around. It is the worst feeling to be robbed. My wife and I both had a hard time sleeping for several weeks after the incident. I wish they would catch them, but I doubt that they ever will.

I have learned not to park in the street, the garage is the only thing for me.

Sorry to hear it jman, police have any leads?

Man that sucks, any chance of recovery, or is it a case that all people in the street become blind and don't want to get involved with catching the perps.
You have my sympathy over this as you spend hard earned bucks to biuld things up for some lowlife to get the benefit.

Hi all

The police never even came to the scene. They took the report over the phone Nope no leads. Cant be without an investigation. I am just so angry. Its not even the dollar value anymore. Someone crossed the line and invaded my space. Now they enjoy the fruits of my labor. I see from all these posts that I am not alone as a victim. I thank all of you for your thoughts.

Yeah, and it took my awhile before I could even feel comfortable driving my car again. I wanted to sell it off, it felt so...dirty I guess http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. The feeling really sucks.

I know the feeling too. You can't just park you vehicle anywhere anymore and have it safe. Even with it locked up and everything taken out. I had my truck parked outside my girlsfriends house last year and we were sitting on the steps late at night and watched as someone just walked by and with their elbow *smashed* the driver side window.

We just looked at each other in amasement as the person ran off into the woods. We chased but couldn't find anybody.

Why can't people just leave stuff alone? Maybe we'd be a better society if everyone weren't so affraid of needless crimes. (as if there is a need for crime).

These aren't PEOPLE we're talking about, but rather iresponsible low-life without the proper upbringing! The lazy type who complain that the world owes them a living but would rather opt for easy cash by selling MY personal posessions!! I work for it, you take it!
Oh Yeah...you animals are really the VICTIMS aren't you!!

Sorry!...Touchy subject!

hey i had a load of stero in my car in the Uk i had Panasoonic stuff 8 disc changer sub head unit the lot. I live in a very hidden area so the people that did it where professionals evven the lock on the door was apparently screwdrivered expertly. I bougght the stuff cheap so actualy got a better deal out of it. i think a few friends know who they are so that will be some fun when we find then two bro's a few mate's not mutch left afterwards.. hehehe.

Hey Gutterball..... i had a friend at College who installed alarms part time localy i helped a few times at their local place sounds like the people who installed your alarm were a bit dodgy as we would hide the alarm wires really well (2 electrial enginering students!!) most installers shoould be able to hidde the alarm cables bettere than that.!!!!

Hey Sparki,

The alarm was hidden pretty well and the guys did a good job taping up the wires and the relays. The bad thing was that they ran the alarm wires through the firewall at the same spot as all the other wiring. It did look like factory wiring(at least to me it did). But those clowns didn't care, they just cut ALL the wires that went through the firewall and got the alarm wires. :/ This time, I made the alarm guy run the alarm wires through the firewall behind the centre console, much harder to cut the wires now! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif I also had 4 plates installed over my locks(inside the door) so they can't get their slim jims to connect! But hey, if they want in, they'll just smash the window, take what they can and go :/

A little story here to take the edge off.
Years ago when CB radios were being stolen all the time a Ham friend of mine mounted a flash bulb in the headliner of the car and a delay timer to the dome light. Well someone broke into his car the flashbulb went off as planned and the thief tore the inside of the car apart looking for the camera. my friend decided that this was a bad idea. Did not get his radio stolen though.
