I have Award BIOS that can't be upgraded nor can I use the ISA card that Unicore offers for the Year 2000 problem. My BIOS ID string is: 12/21/94-SIS-501-503-2A5IAQ12-00. I have an S-7 mother board with a P-100.

First, has anyone ever changed a BIOS chip as Award might offer a new chip based on demand. Please give details of what problems I might encounter. Also, should I buy a new mother board, what precautions should I take, ie, finding correct voltage for CPU, jumper settings, etc? Thank you.

2A51AQ12-00 is a QDI P5S5480P3 with an SIS chipset and is not exactly new. im not sure but i dont think you can flash the bios, i think its burnt in.you could have another bios chip put in but the cost would be out of all proportion to buying a new board. as regards your other queries i wouldnt worry too much as most good mobo 's have a comprehensive install manuall
