with timing fix installed boot protection errors are gone, upon shutdown, either
blankscreen hang or windows error press
any key, then safe to shutdown.

is this residue from microsofts fix or do i have other problems.

I don't think this is a problem with the loop
fix. I would think that it's a software problem caused before you installed the fix.I installed the same fix myself.here is what I did: downloaded the patch to a floppy then i turned the computer down to 300 formatted the hard drive then installed win95,and then the patch. After all that I turned the computer back up to 450 ( overclocked 350) and now it flys.

Hi!

First of all, try the latest BIOS for this very new board.

ftp.pcchips.com.tw/BIOS/M598 is the place to visit. Continue into the subdirectory matching your M598's version. (See near the keyboard connector.)

I have a v7.0 (1 MB L2) here running Windows 98 very stably (with an old non-CXT K6-2 333/95, running exactly as stably when overclocking to 350/100).

Regards, Peter

after removing programs,reformatting hdd,
reinstalling in a priority order,my problem
was a program! norton anti-virus scan on shut-down "only" caused windows protection fault:press any key to continue. then safe to
shutdown, very annoying when restarting the
machine neumerous times.

THANK YOU peter and, hydraulic!
you both helped me get my troubleshooting
skills back in gear
