I think he wants to get rid of his Win98 installtion, and he wants to know which files for the boot loader to keep on the partition so he can still boot into Win2K.

Huh, format c: but dual boot? You must have W2K in another patition, right? Or you just want to get rid of win98 and only have W2K?

I really would say - take your time - and clean install what you want to have on your system. Probably save you alot of grief later on.

Alright ...my fault
I hv a dual boot now.
win98se(c:/) and win2k(f:\).

i want to format c:\. so i can reinstall win98.
But by doing that I will delete my dualboot info..what file should i safe from c:\

so i still can (after i reinstall win98se) hv the choice to boot in win98se or win2k

Dr., I believe you need to first make the repair disk for Win2K (one floppy and about three files on it). That floppy along with your 2K install disk should allow you to run a quick repair of your existing 2K following the reinstall of 98, thus restoring dual boot.
