I need to scan a pic and send it to someone using AOL. I've not had any luck doing this in the past, do I need to save it as a different type, or something? If I saved it as a bmp and they used paint, would that work?

thanx

It would work, but it would take a long time to send and download because .bmp's are so big. Try a .jpg or .gif.
If I'm sending a bunch, I'll send them as small .jpg and then have my friend let me know what pictures they want "blowups", then I'll send the larger ones.
Dave

edit- I'm sorry jbob, now I think you may be talking about a problem on the AOL recieving side, or that person is unsure how to view them -edit

Dave's right about sending images as JPEGs, not Bitmaps. Don't forget, though, that AOL has a proprietary mail service unlike anything else on the Internet. They can send pictures back and forth to each other, but everyone else is SOL with AOL.
It is possible for AOLers to receive photos, but they have to be computer-savvy, which most of the 22 millions are not. I have found, though, they can receive one picture at a time. So, if it's possible to send them one at a time (a large hassle, I know), try that.

LOL Johnpaul!! That's so true!

I tried sending an image to a friend with AOL but he couldn't recieve it because he wasn't able to receive attachements and he didn't know how to "undo" that option.

I have an AOL account & don't have any problem receiving and viewing attachments (including images).
It could be that they have attachments blocked in their mail controls. This can be changed as follows:-
- Sign on in Master Screen Name
- Go to keyword "mail controls"
- Make sure that "block file attachments" isn't ticked.

Also, you could try an image viewer like Irfan View that lets you view just about any kind of image (download from http://stud1.tuwien.ac.at/~e9227474/english.htm).

Hope this helps. http://thedam.com/cwm/smile/net/roll.gif
