After 4 hours of trying combinations of settings, I'm pleased to report a step forward. I was running my P-II 450 @ 504 on the old Abit BX6. Now it's running at 526.5 on the BX6 v2.0! Great board! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif It's been stable for about 5 hours.

I don' think we'll be seeing anything faster until someone can afford to start playing with a P-III.

What was the fastest a 400 pentium II made it? I would think it could easilly do 500 a good heatsink and fan system. (Just to inform you, I only have a 200 pentium pro oc'ed to 266)

The P-II 400 is the same as the 450 and should do as well. Intel tests them all for fastest stable performance and then marks them down by at least 10%. Some 400s might not make it quite as far as the best 450s. As the production run matures, it becomes a marketing decision to mark some lower than others http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif. That way a segment of buyers will go Intel that otherwise might not.

You should see 504 OK. 527 is a definite maybe.

The PII 300 SL2YK will do 504 without a problem on a P2B, P2B-LS,
522 and 504 on the Shuttle HOT649A.
The 649A is a dual processor board with independent voltage adjustments on each chip.
558 with a PII300 SL2YK on the BH6 with the new bios.
500/522 with the Celeron 333 on the BH6.
Not to rain on your parade but there is no need to buy a 400 or 450 unless your gunning for over 600 and sorry again but the same parts are in the 333 PII and above, they just change little things like the multiplier and lock.
300As run fine at 504 with a good chip and peripherals on a BH6 with new bios.{Bh6_hn.bin}
baldy on the below link is getting 504 and 558 on the AMD 400.

Some PII 300's had cache chips as fast as the 400's and 450's. It made OC'ing a lot better. They probably did it to simply the production line (i.e. cut costs).

Has anyone figured out how to access the new cpu temp setting on the Abit BX6 2.0? I always reports as 0 C in the bios.

I guess you mean temp reading. Mine works OK in the Setup Screen. The Temp Warning can be set.

SiSoft "SANDRA" provides temp monitoring in Windows, or so I'm told. Just downloaded it, haven't unziped and started exploring it.

The BX6 v2.0 offers this and many new options for bus speed and clock multipliers.

I do like that board.
The 1/4 below 133 helps alot of people who don't upgrade everything.
Running some tests at 133 bus at the 1/3; you end up with errors that won't show up at about the same pci bus speed{41.5} and I noticed that the TNTs I have kind of flake out above the 124 with the divider at 1/3.

stated that what happens is it resorts to the 1X on the AGP bus.

I don't see why it should. The 1:1, 2:3 is an independent setting. However, 2/3x133=88 2/3, perhaps too fast for some AGP cards.
