I'm haveing trouble finding a modem that will work with my ISP (Alltel Internet). I've tried a Conexent HCF V90 56K PCI and an Archteck 3334BT 33.6 ISA (old) without much luck.
The HCF V90 will connect but the host computer doesn't seem to understand what it's saying then I get "The computer you are dialing is not answering" then disconects. With the help of tech support I tried a kazillion configurations and strings without success. I returned it for a refund. The Archteck connects and runs fine for a while
(500k of data) then slows down and stops. I can turn it off then back on, it runs for a while then does the same thing. It seems like a buffer somewhere us filling up (?)I also get frequent disconnects. I've got the latest driver.

I am currently using a US Robotics 33.6 Winmodem from my old computer and it works great but I gave it away and had to take it back to get on line.

Any suggestions for a reliable easy to set up modem with good tech support? I don't want to do games or anything just basic web surfing. Help would be much appreciated.
