simple question

how do i change my monitor type on my device list? I changed my monitor and the device list still says CTX 1785GM even though my monitor is a compaq 171FS

I dont know very much about computers

To change the monitor:
Follow the directions here- http://www.compaq.com/support/techpubs/customer_advisories/DO000203_CW01_0.html
EXCEPT in 1 and 2 do this:
1--Right click on My Computer and left click on Properties
2--click on the Device manager tab at the top
continue with the compaq directions.
