My card is a leadtek gf2 gts 32 mb ddr. It has leadtek bios v 6.2. the problem is in games such as rogue squadron, mechcommander 2, mechwarrior 4, dark reign 2, and red faction and several other d3d games. the problem is that the screen is all one color, but coronas, sky, n several outlines are visible. i noticed that drivers 6.11 and below fix this problem. drivers 6.18 n higher have this problem. i already put the card in my other system, n it still has this problem. need some feedback on possible fixes. thanks

Sounds like it's only driver related, suggest getting the latest detonator 14's from somewhere like NVmax (http://www.nvmax.com) . Post back if the problem persists.

Nope, they didn't work. This is getting very annoying with this problem. Could it be the bios?

Well it could be the BIOS....but it's unlikely. I still think it's driver related but not sure how to resolve it...
Could you give some more system specs please? Might help to narrow it down.

Pentium 3 Coppermine @ 950 MHz
Asus CUSL2 w/1003 bios
128 mb pc-133 infineon chipped mem
Leadtek GeForce 2 GTS 32 mb ddr @ 210/360 w/ bios 6.2 driver 12.41 currently
SB Live! Value
STB TV Tuner
I already tried default clock speeds, but that didn't work. The motherboard bios settings are:
Video ROM Shadow: enabled
Video Ram Cacheable: enabled
System Bios Cacheable: enabled
First display: AGP
Fast Writes: disabled
Currently on 2 x agp.
Side Band Addressing: on

I don't think this has anything to do with your problem but Video ROM Shadow should be disabled. I'm not 100% on the Vid ROM Cache but i think it should also be disabled (it is on mine). I would also turn off Sidebanding until you get your problem sorted (just to eliminate it as a suspect)
You might find something at www.geforcefaq.com (http://www.geforcefaq.com) that would help.
Edit: Oh yeah, Video RAM Cache should also be disabled.

I tried everything, disabling all or changing all the video related options in the bios and side band. But after changing back to a 4x bus, i can't get fast writes back.

In the game nolf, it was the fog that caused problems for me. After disabling fog in the game or turning off fog table in the nvidia menu, it was fixed. But with red faction, the current game i'm using the test to fix the problem, the fog fix won't work. It's really dark. I know it doesn't have anything to do with brightness and contrast. All i see is the coronas, dynamic lights from weapons fire, and the sky. All the other textures are black.

Maybe a reinstall of your Geforce drivers would get Fast Writes back (assuming it's enabled in your mobo's BIOS http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif).
Just a thought - did you flash the BIOS on your Geforce? If so, it might be worth flashing the previous BIOS version back onto it.
I also wonder if your TV Tuner is causing this?

I losed my original saved bios for my card. could it be related to my heatsinks? cause i have a personal heatsink config n maybe some silver is messing up the traces or something. i really need to see the difference between 6. 11 drivers and below with 6.16 and up to see wut's the thing that's causing this. This problem persisted b4 i got the tv tuner card. The only think left for me is to try fastwrites and geforce tweak utility. I have been using nvmax since geforce tweak is really complicated with sooooo many features.

Go to www.m3dzone.com (http://www.m3dzone.com) and post thru the nvidia bios forum asking for the original bios that came with your card. Somebody might have a copy.
Just a friendly reminder: always backup your original bios before flashing by typing the following:
nvflash -bbackup.rom
(asuming you did flash your card and use nvflash)

FWIW, I had a similar problem where a lot of my games were very dark, and my DVD-ROM wouldn't play video, just audio... At one point it worked fine, then all of a sudden I started having this problem. I did everything from chaning drivers (several times) to doing a complete reinstall... Reinstalling worked... But only for a time, and the problem came back... Finally I traced it down to NETMEETING... Whenever I had "Remote Desktop Sharing" enabled, I had these problems. As soon as I disabled it, everything worked fine, and I was able to adjust the brightness of my games from within the game itself and my DVD's were playing perfectly... I'm not saying that that's your problem as well, but it could be something very simple like that. Good Luck.

The problem does sound familiar to mine, but only in some d3d games. where can i find and disable netmeeting?

Well, Netmeeting with Remote Desktop Sharing is a program that you actually have to configure for it to be running. If you don't remember setting it up, its probebly not running. If it is running, it will show up as a wierd looking greenish icon in your system tray on the bottom right of your task bar.
