Are they just going to be increasing the speeds for some time? 2ns, 1ns... Or some new technology is going to be introduced?

They basically have no choice but using DRAM solutions, and have to make it as fast as possible, so it's gonna be less "ns" and DDRx (remember "QDR in videocards", Hellmund ? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif ).

Hehe, yes very much, a VERY informative thread I started there.

Basically they will continue to increase memory speed, thing is that isn't happening fast enough. Right now NVIDIA is using a Crossbar memory controller with the GF3's Lightspeed memory architecture. ATI has their HyperZ to increase memory bandwidth. PowerVR however are being the most innovative through Tile-based-rendering and combining it with Hidden Surface removal.
